Biography
Tony Sanchez III is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of OneNexus, LLC, a specialty insurance firm focused on providing financial assurance solutions for decommissioning liabilities associated with long-duration energy producing assets, such as oil & gas, wind, solar, and gas storage. He is currently responsible for managing the overall operations of OneNexus, including client sourcing, contract negotiations, financing, underwriting, credit analysis and asset allocation.
Previously, Tony was Co-founder and Executive Chairman of the Board for Sanchez Midstream Partners (NYSE: SNMP), a publicly traded midstream company. Its portfolio of assets includes stakes in natural gas gathering and processing. Tony was also a Co-founder, President, and CEO of Sanchez Energy Corporation, a multi-billion-dollar energy production company with extensive assets in the Eagle Ford Shale of South Texas.
Earlier in his career, Tony honed his expertise in finance and analysis at JP Morgan, where he was an analyst in the Industrials and Natural Resources group. Prior to JP Morgan, Tony worked at Zix Corp. (formerly NASDAQ: ZIXI), a leader in SaaS-based email encryption, threat protection and compliance cloud solutions which was ultimately acquired by OpenText Corp (NASDAQ: OTEX). He held diverse roles in product development and marketing and later served on the Board of Directors of Zix Corp for several years prior to its ultimate sale.
Tony earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and completed his undergraduate studies at Georgetown University, obtaining a B.S. in Finance and Accounting, with a minor in Economics.
He presently serves on the Board of Trustees at Texas Children’s Hospital, where he is Chairman of the Finance Committee, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Catholic Endowment Foundation of Galveston-Houston. His previous trustee and board positions include the Awty International School, Strake Jesuit College Preparatory, the Houston Museum of Natural Science, and the Houston Zoo. He is an active member of the Young President’s Organization (Houston Chapter).

Tony’s prior experience includes finance and analysis positions at JP Morgan Investment Banking, where he worked as an analyst in the Industrials and Natural Resources group, and at Zix Corp. (NASDAQ: ZIXI), a publicly-traded specialty provider of encryption and data privacy software, where he held various positions in product development, marketing, and subsequently served on the Board of Directors for several years.
Tony holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a B.S. in Finance and Accounting with a minor in Economics from Georgetown University.
